The Dutch gaming authority, Kansspelautoriteit, has announced a six-month delay to the pending new regulations of the country’s online gambling market. The regulated online gambling market’s launch has been delayed by six months until the 1st of July 2021. Netherlands Minister of Justice and Security, Sander Dekker, confirmed how the amendments were being made to strengthen existing regulation at existing and new casinos. Kansspelautoriteit will be checking the age-verification processes of prospective online licensees from now on as it was discovered that under-age gambling was happening with the state-owned Nederlandse Loterij’s Toto sports gambling product without any restriction. He stated that all future and existing online licensees will have to upgrade their age-verification system to combat underage gambling.
