Burgers, Tacos, and Sportsball: Summerlin Edition
Alright, so normally we’re all about the glitz and glam of the Strip, but sometimes, just sometimes, a little off-Strip gem pops up and demands our attention. And guess what? One of those gems is serving up some seriously killer burgers.
The Neighborhood Food Hall: A New Era (Sort Of)
The Resort at Summerlin, which you might remember as Rampart Casino or maybe that fancy J.W. Marriott next to Suncoast (yeah, that place), has decided to up its game. They’ve rolled out two new spots in their “Neighborhood Food Hall”: For the Win and Tacos 1986. And because we’re all about that “Rule of Three” comedy gold, we also have to mention the shiny new Caesars Sportsbook that just opened. Look, we’re way more interested in what’s on our plate than on the scoreboard, but hey, it rounds out the story, right?
The Magic of Three
Seriously, things in threes are just better. It’s like a law of the universe. Two points? Eh, could be a fluke. Three points? Boom, pattern confirmed. Our brains just dig it. Plus, who wants to be overwhelmed with a million options? Small, digestible chunks – that’s where it’s at. Like when you hear Zowie Bowie is booked and you just… chunk.
For the Win: Burgers That Might Just Get You There
Let’s cut to the chase. The name “For the Win” is a bit of a mouthful, but honestly, the burgers? Totally win. They’ve got this signature smash burger situation going on: a high-quality patty, smashed thin, with grilled onions, pickles, and their special fry sauce, all cuddled up in a toasted Martin’s potato bun. Now, I’m not a huge onion fan. We initially tried to ditch ’em, but figured that would mess with the whole flavor profile. So, we let them get smashed in there. And you know what? Glad we did. We also skipped the cheese because, let’s be real, sometimes less is more. The whole “WTF burger” was a surprisingly delicious experience. Yeah, the patty might creep over the sides, and the fries were… fine. But overall? A solid destination burger. Props to whoever’s running the show at The Resort at Summerlin. The menu also boasts cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, and veggie burgers, plus sides like loaded fries (because, Vegas, baby!) and crispy balsamic Brussels sprouts. Prices are reasonable, so if you find yourself at the casino, give For the Win a whirl.
Tacos 1986: Tijuana-Style Tacos With a Twist
Next up, Tacos 1986. This place is supposedly a Los Angeles institution, aiming to bring authentic Tijuana-style tacos to Summerlin. They’ve kept it casual with a standing-room-only, counter-service vibe, aiming to recreate that classic L.A. street taco stand feel. Look, the tacos were perfectly acceptable. Are they going to change your life? Probably not. But they’re definitely worth a try. The menu is all about hand-made corn tortillas piled high with grilled meats, fresh onions, cilantro, and guacamole. You’ve got your carne asada, pollo asado, adobada pork, and even a mushroom vegan option. Plus, they’ve got some creative taco styles like Perrones and Mulitas.
More Than Just Food
These new culinary additions make The Resort at Summerlin a surprisingly good spot for a bite. They’ve also got Ai Pazzi Pizza, Nom Wah, and a decent old-school casino buffet.
The Sportsbook Saga
And then there’s the Caesars Sportsbook. While sportsbooks don’t exactly make the casino bank accounts sing, they do provide a place for the sports fanatics to gather. This new spot is pretty decked out, with a video wall and more to come. It’s a bit quirky to see a Caesars sportsbook in a non-Caesars-owned joint, but hey, stranger things have happened in Vegas.
Ownership Shenanigans
So, why a Caesars sportsbook here? Well, Rampart’s sportsbook used to be William Hill, and then Caesars bought them out. It gets complicated, and frankly, we’d rather not bleed digital ink trying to untangle it.
Summerlin’s Shining Moment
Kudos to The Resort at Summerlin for stepping up its dining game. With these new spots, they’ve got a little something for everyone. If you’re a Strip regular, this Summerlin spot might not be on your radar, but for locals, it’s another solid reason to venture out. And, of course, there’s the carpeting. Because, well, Vegas.
